And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works. (Hebrews 10:24)
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:6-7)
The aim of what I am going to share through this website is simple. It is to stir people’s hearts. To rekindle the first love that has died down within many of my brothers and sisters. To provoke them to love for Christ, and to secure an inner devotion to Him.
I want others to know Christ, to love Him, and if they have forgotten, to rediscover His beauty. I hope to redirect people’s gazes from themselves and onto Christ, as well as onto others. To free Christians from a self-focused, self-centered gospel, and share with them a higher and greater vision of the Christian life. And to do that the experience may be jarring. It will take being shaken out of our complacent Western Christianity. It will take us being willing to throw off everything that weighs us down, including the sin that so easily entangles us and stops our progress.
What Christ came to give us was much better and greater than what we’ve known as typical Christianity. It was vibrant and living. Powerful and loving. Gracious and truthful. Experiential and factual. Many of us have only ever known an imbalanced Christian life. We are given morsels by pastors and preachers. We read the newest books and listen to the latest sermons. But the message of Scripture is ancient truth, and when it is breathed upon by the Holy Spirit, it becomes living and active. It is the Word that proceeds from the mouth of God, not the word twisted by false teachers and the devil himself.
So if there is one goal of this website then it is to stir those who read and listen to the material on here. To solidly ground them in Scripture. To fill them with hope (not wishful thinking) for the future. To communicate to them the depths of the Spirit in words that fan into flame whatever embers they find within themselves. There is much I wish to share, and I know that God’s people are hungry for truth. Are you willing to be challenged? To be provoked in a good way? If so, then you have found the right website.
For the glory of Jesus Christ our Lord, and the maturity of His body,
Daniel Caleb Bussey
